On June 6th, we will celebrate the 80thème Anniversary of the Normandy Landings.
We know that it was the beaches of Normandy that were the scene of this liberation, particularly the department of Calvados where our Mirabel Les Prairies de la Mer campsite is located. Throughout the year, this anniversary will be a focus for the destination, with festivities taking place all over.

Every year, thousands of visitors gather on June 6th. in Normandy coming from all over the world, to honor the memory of our liberators. For this Birthday special, you will be able to attend many events in Ouistreham and the surrounding area, such as the peace concert on Saturday, the 1ster June, followed by a fireworks display, a parade of military vehicles and participants in period costumes on June 8, an air show with a flyover by the Patrouille de France over the artificial harbor of Arromanches. The D-Day landing sites and museums to visit near Caen
Just a few minutes' walk from the campsite, in the heart of Ouistreham, you'll find two museums: No. 4 Commando, opposite the casino, and the Grand Bunker - Atlantic Wall, a few meters from the beach. Both retrace life in 1944, the actions carried out on our Norman beaches, and the work of Commander Kieffer and his troops. To discover the beginnings of the 2and World War, to learn more about the Cold War as well as numerous temporary exhibitions, we highly recommend visiting the Caen Memorial Museum 15 minutes from Camping Mirabel Les Prairies de la Mer in Normandy. Find other sites and museums at less than an hour from Ouistreham on the Merville-Franceville side, Falaise, or in the west of the department in Bayeux or Arromanches in Calvados.
